Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says Raheem Sterling could be capable of attaining the amount of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
After two screens for England this week boss Gareth Southgate stated Sterling has the potential to become as good as the duo.
Guardiola says”nobody can compare” with them currently but Sterling should aspire to reach that level.
“It would be a fantasy because of him, for all people ,” said the Spaniard.
“If Raheem could aim that amount – wow.
“We’ll be here to assist him of course he will do it I will not be the man to put limits to cancel itto say’don’t, don’t consider that’. No, absolutely not – it is wanted by me.
“But right now, nobody in most of the clubs on earth can compare with these two men and what they have done every single week through 10 years.
“They are complete legends and no one could compare, nobody”
Sterling has scored eight goals in eight appearances for club and country this season, for example in the two of England’s Euro 2020 qualifiers against Bulgaria and Kosovo.
Guardiola says that he expects the compliments for his performances does not diverted Sterling.
“I’m really happy for himfor the way he’s playing and together with the national group, but he will not see a lot,” he said.
“He cannot listen to such sort of stuff – which wouldn’t be useful for him, because nobody could compare Cristiano or Messi.
“I am so pleased with what he’s done since we have been collectively, not right now. Has ever been good because he can be an incredibly great man and has an incredible work ethic. I’m thrilled for him.”
Guardiola stated Manchester City were unlikely to signal a defender in the January transfer window despite needing only two match senior centre-backs.
It was confirmed on Friday the defender Aymeric Laporte will probably likely be out before February following knee surgery.
That leaves City following the passing of Vincent Kompany into Anderlecht, with John Stones and just Nicolas Otamendi as centre-backs.
“We will endure with the players we’ve got,” said Guardiola.
“My advice to you is not to write a lot of names concerning the winter transfer window because you are likely to make a mistake. I don’t think it’s going to occur.
“I learned already we are considering this player or another player but I’d love to convey to all the clubs on earth do not be nervous, because we’re uninterested in any gamers or central defenders in Europe.”
England defender Stones could play at Norwich City on Saturday in the 17:30 BST kick-off after recovering from a thigh injury that has kept him out since the season’s opening match.
